Moses out for up to six weeks

The Potters winger sustained the problem in the weekend's 2-1 defeat to Burnley and may return to Chelsea for treatment, though Marc Wilson has returned to training. stoke city winger Victor Moses could be out for more than six weeks with a thigh injury, it has been confirmed. The 23-year-old - who is on loan at the Britannia Stadium from Chelsea - sustained the problem during Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to Burnley in the Premier League and is now likely to be sidelined until the New Year. "He has a significant thigh injury, which is likely to keep him out for several weeks," said assistant manager Mark Bowen. Speaking to BBC Radio Stoke, Bowen added: " At the moment we're deciding with Chelsea whether [Moses will] go back and have the rehab there or stay with our team." However, there is better news for Marc Wilson, who has returned to training after picking up a hamstring problem before the international break. "Marc trained on Tuesday, albeit lightly, but he trained and will have more intensive training later in the week and hopefully he'll be available at the weekend," Bowen explained. Stoke visit Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday.

It is wrong to call Tambuwal Speaker, address him as ‘Alhaji’ – IG of Police

The Inspector General of Police, Sulieman Aba has insisted that it is wrong to address Aminu Tambuwal, as the Speaker of the House of Representatives. The police boss simply addressed him as “Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal”, a title that provoked members of the House Committee on Police Affairs. According to the IG, it would be “subjudice” for him to address Tambuwal as speaker or any matter relating to him so long as such a matter was in court. Chairman of the House committee, Mr. Usman Bello-Kurmo, asked him a direct question, “Is Aminu Waziri-Tambuwal the Speaker of the House of Representatives or not?” The IG replied, “Mr. Chairman, you know that matters before the courts are subjudice. “Commenting on them is subjudice until they are disposed of.” This, however, brought the session between Abba and the committee to an abrupt end, as the two parties stormed out of the venue. The committee, acting on a House resolution, had summoned Abba to explain why the police shut the gates of the National Assembly against lawmakers on Thursday last week. During the shutout, Tambuwal and many lawmakers were barred from entering by the police, resulting in violent reactions by the members. However, speaking on what transpired last week, the IG justified the police action. He maintained that all those the police restrained from entering the National Assembly were “thugs.” Rather than admitting that his men threw tear gas canisters at lawmakers, he claimed that “a tear gas canister exploded.” Abba also told lawmakers to their faces that it was his men who suffered physical assault and not the lawmakers. He said, “The police management and particularly my own person, I was traumatised by what I saw happened to police officers that day. “What happened was unprecedented worldwide; policemen were physically beaten and disobeyed, among other things that happened.” He claimed that the police shut the National Assembly for security reasons after the Force Headquarters received intelligence that Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, and All Progressives Congress supporters were going to attack the legislature and other public offices on November 20. According to him, a day earlier on the 19th, the “leadership” of the APC, Amaechi and party members had blocked the Force Headquarters in Abuja, “where they made uncomplimentary statements and threatened to do worse (things) in the days ahead.” Among the places he claimed would have been attacked by the APC members and Amaechi were the Presidential Villa and the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission. He added, “The procedure was orderly until the arrival of Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal and his men with quite a number of suspected thugs to disrupt the security arrangements. “Unfortunately, a tear gas canister exploded at the gate; the situation is unfortunate and it is being investigated.” Two members of the committtee, Hakeem Munir and Victor Nwokolo, asked him to retract his earlier comment and address Tambuwal with his official title, but Abba refused. With members threatening to walk out of the meeting if Abba would not recognise Tambuwal as the Speaker, Bello-Kurmo called off the session abruptly.

Jonathan’s government on the verge of destroying democracy – Obasanjo

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has again taken a swipe at President Goodluck Jonathan by declaring that the present administration was on the verge of destroying the country’s democracy. Obasanjo who reiterated his position at a book Launch in honour of the pioneer chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, Mustapha Akanbi‎, in Abuja, advised the President to stop encouraging verbal attacks which may later result to violence if not managed with care. The former President said the greatest problem any government could create for itself is by constantly trying to destroy oppositions from all quarters. He said that such constant attack on those with opposing views was an attempt to destroy democracy. “Management of democracy without resorting to brute force and dictatorial tendencies must be cultivated,’’ Obasanjo said. “As a leader, you must not deliberately do evil or condone evil. You should know that you will one day give account to God, you may cover up here, but before God, there is no cover up.” On national security, Mr. Obasanjo said Boko Haram was not out to “frustrate anyone’s political efforts” asserting that that it took Jonathan several years to ‎understand the demands of the insurgents. Obasanjor who also spoke on corruption said corruption chiefly starts from the top and that “when the head is rotten, the whole body is useless” He also blamed the present government for not saying exactly the true state of the country’s economy even as it dwindles on a daily basis. He said; “is not truly what the economy is. The economy is in doldrums, if not in reverse,” he said. DAILY POST recalls that the former President and President Jonathan have recently been engaged in verbal attacks after Obasanjo rated the present administration below average. However, Jonathan in his reaction through his Political Adviser, Doyin Okupe said Jonathan’s government remains the best since Nigeria secured independence from Britain in 1960.

Organic chemistry

Organic chemistry is a chemistry sub-discipline involving the scientific study of the structure, properties, and reactions of organic compounds and organic materials, i.e., matter in its various forms that contain carbon atoms.
Study of structure includes using spectroscopy (e.g., NMR), mass spectrometry, and other physical and chemical methods to determine the chemical composition and constitution of organic compounds and materials. Study of properties includes both physical properties and chemical properties, and uses similar methods as well as methods to evaluate chemical reactivity, with the aim to understand the behavior of the organic matter in its pure form (when possible), but also in solutions, mixtures, and fabricated forms.
The study of organic reactions includes probing their scope through use in preparation of target compounds (e.g., natural products, drugs, polymers, etc.) by chemical synthesis, as well as the focused study of the reactivities of individual organic molecules, both in the laboratory and via theoretical (in silico) study.
The range of chemicals studied in organic chemistry include hydrocarbons, compounds containing only carbon and hydrogen, as well as myriad compositions based always on carbon, but also containing other elements, especially:

How to Flash a Phone

If you want to use your old cell phone with a new carrier, you will need to know how to flash a phone. Flashing is also referred to as reprogramming. You can also take your phone to various authorized cell phone dealers to get it flashed for you, but you can learn how to flash your phone yourself.

Part 1 of 3: Working with the Right Equipment

1. Make sure you are trying to flash a CDMA phone. CDMA stands for Code Division Multiple Access. If you are uncertain whether your phone is CDMA or not, remove the battery and look for a removable subscriber identity module (SIM) card under the battery. If there isn't a SIM card, you indeed have a CDMA phone that can be flashed.

  • GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) phones can't be flashed (like AT&T and T-Mobile). Metro, Sprint, Cricket, Boost, Verizon and many others are CDMA and thus can be flashed because they're not controlled by the SIM card.
  • Your phone must also have a clean ESN (electronic serial number) -- that is, it must never have been reported lost or stolen.
2. Get out your USB cord. The same one you use to connect to your computer to download music and whatnot will be used with this process.

3 Search for compatible flashing software.. There are several easy-to-use flashing programs that make flashing easy, and some are even free to download. Make sure the one you choose will work with your particular phone before attempting to flash.
  • Examples include Easyflasher.com[2], CDMA-ware.com[3], Flashyourphone.com[4] and Your cellular[5]. Search around before you risk damaging your phone with an inadequate or incompatible program.
    4. Know what you want to flash your phone to. You are changing your phone from your current carrier to something else. The only stipulation is that it also must be a CDMA network. Cricket, Page Plus, and Metro PCS are three popular options.[6]
  • You can check the reception in your area for various carriers at Cellreception.com.[7] Might as well before you make the leap! Certain programs are affiliated with larger networks, like Page Plus is with Verizon.[8]
    • You can get an hour's trial of Page Plus from their website.

Whale of a catch! Massive whale shark snared by Chinese fishermen

alk about the catch of the day.
A Chinese fisherman caught a massive whale shark in the waters off Fujian province over the weekend. Photos of the 13-and-a-half-foot, 2-ton fish being transported to market through the streets of Xiaozhi have caused a bit of a stir in China, where the whale shark is endangered.
But according to local media reports, Capt. Cai Chengzhu says his fresh catch was an accident — and that the giant shark became stuck in his net and died while the crew was trying to release it.
“It's believed that the giant creature broke the net and got inside to eat the fish we caught," Chengzhu told local media, according to the Daily Mail. "It was really unfortunate and we did our best to free it, but having caught it and because it was already dead, it seemed a shame to waste it."
Chengzhu said he was hoping to get between 10,000 and 20,000 yuan for his fishy freight before he was stopped by Fujian fishery officials, the Independent reports.
The whale shark (or Rhincodon typus) was first discovered in South Africa in 1829. It is the largest known extant fish species and can get as long as 30 feet — twice as big as the one Chengzhu snared — and can live up to 100 years.

10 Programming Languages You Should Learn in 2014

The tech sector is booming. If you've used a smartphone or logged on to a computer at least once in the last few years, you've probably noticed this.
As a result, coding skills are in high demand, with programming jobs paying significantly more than the average position. Even beyond the tech world, an understanding of at least one programming language makes an impressive addition to any resumé.
The in-vogue languages vary by employment sector. Financial and enterprise systems need to perform complicated functions and remain highly organized, requiring languages like Java and C#. Media- and design-related webpages and software will require dynamic, versatile and functional languages with minimal code, such as Ruby, PHP, JavaScript and Objective-C.
With some help from Lynda.com, we've compiled a list of 10 of the most sought-after programming languages to get you up to speed.

1. Java

What it is: Java is a class-based, object-oriented programming language developed by Sun Microsystems in the 1990s. It's one of the most in-demand programming languages, a standard for enterprise software, web-based content, games and mobile apps, as well as the Android operating system. Java is designed to work across multiple software platforms, meaning a program written on Mac OS X, for example, could also run on Windows.
Where to learn it: UdemyLynda.comOracle.comLearnJavaOnline.org.

2. C Language

What it is: A general-purpose, imperative programming language developed in the early '70s, C is the oldest and most widely used language, providing the building blocks for other popular languages, such as C#, Java, JavaScript and Python. C is mostly used for implementing operating systems and embedded applications.
Because it provides the foundation for many other languages, it is advisable to learn C (and C++) before moving on to others.

3. C++

What it is: C++ is an intermediate-level language with object-oriented programming features, originally designed to enhance the C language. C++ powers major software like FirefoxWinamp and Adobe programs. It's used to develop systems software, application software, high-performance server and client applications and video games.

4. C#

What it is: Pronounced "C-sharp," C# is a multi-paradigm language developed byMicrosoft as part of its .NET initiative. Combining principles from C and C++, C# is a general-purpose language used to develop software for Microsoft andWindows platforms.

5. Objective-C

What it is: Objective-C is a general-purpose, object-oriented programming language used by the Apple operating system. It powers Apple's OS X and iOS, as well as its APIs, and can be used to create iPhone apps, which has generated a huge demand for this once-outmoded programming language.

6. PHP

What it is: PHP (Hypertext Processor) is a free, server-side scripting language designed for dynamic websites and app development. It can be directly embedded into an HTML source document rather than an external file, which has made it a popular programming language for web developers. PHP powers more than 200 million websites, including WordpressDigg and Facebook.

7. Python

What it is: Python is a high-level, server-side scripting language for websites and mobile apps. It's considered a fairly easy language for beginners due to its readability and compact syntax, meaning developers can use fewer lines of code to express a concept than they would in other languages. It powers the web apps for InstagramPinterest and Rdio through its associated web framework, Django, and is used by GoogleYahoo! and NASA.

8. Ruby

What it is: A dynamic, object-oriented scripting language for developing websites and mobile apps, Ruby was designed to be simple and easy to write. It powers the Ruby on Rails (or Rails) framework, which is used on ScribdGitHub,Groupon and Shopify. Like Python, Ruby is considered a fairly user-friendly language for beginners.
